After two successful editions in Lisbon, KALORAMA will arrive into the heart of the peninsula, with the festival happening simultaneously in both capitals.
KALORAMA Madrid will be an open-air festival at the IFEMA Madrid Exhibition ground from 29th to 31st August with limited capacity.
Tickets will go on sale from the 7th of May with a special presale the day before; the presale waiting list opens today.
Olivia Dean, Nation of Language, The Kills, Fever Ray, Gossip, Ezra Collective, Yard Act, Yves Tumor, Dudu Tassa & Jonny Greenwood, OVERMONO and Soulwax join the first confirmations.
The third edition of KALORAMA comes as a pair. In addition to its Portuguese edition, the first edition to be held in the Spanish capital takes place on the 29th, 30th and 31st of August at the IFEMA exhibition grounds in Madrid, with limited capacity. There will be a fusion of genres ranging from pop to electronica and jazz; KALORAMA Madrid presents itself as a melting pot of artistic expression that merges into the perfect epilogue to the summer.
The festival has meticulously put together a top-notch lineup, headed up by the untameable and melodic pop icon, Sam Smith, who will visit the festival as part of his Gloria Tour, and after being honoured yet again at the Grammys in 2023; the inexhaustible avant-garde sound of the New Yorkers LCD Soundsystem, ready to project dance-punk over Losing My Edge and Drunk Girls; and Massive Attack, who will be coming all the way from Bristol to give a long-awaited recap of their repertoire.
Brit Award’s ‘Artist of the Year’, RAYE will bring us the endless string of hits from the award-winning My 21st Century Blues for this unique occasion, while the energetic and choreographed Jungle will present their new project, Volcano. Also joining them will be Peggy Gou, the South Korean DJ and producer, author of viral hits such as It Goes Live (Nanana); The Smile, a group composed of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, or, in other words, half of Radiohead with the drummer from Sons of Kemet, Tom Skinner; Greenwood will also be present at the festival as half of Dudu Tassa & Jonny Greenwood, presenting their latest project Jarak Qaribak (from the Arabic “Your neighbour is your friend”), full of traditional and experimental sounds. Within the same chromatic range, also joining them will be the intergenerational band Death Cab for Cutie, iconic since its birth back in 1997, with Ben Gibbard as lead. Gibbard will be pulling a double shift at KALORAMA Madrid as he’ll also be joining The Postal Service, presenting Give Up, the band’s only and unrivalled album.
These icons share a lineup with brilliant groups such as the noughties band, The Kills, and their generational indie rock; the Londoners Ezra Collective, regular collaborators with Jorja Smith and references of the most contemporary jazz; electronica’s up and coming, UK born and bred, OVERMONO; the electricity of the former half The Knife with their solo project Fever Ray; or the most avant-garde project headed up by the Dewaele brothers, Soulwax. The underground neo-preacher Yves Tumor won’t be absent from this sound collage, nor will the American synth pop band with Beth Ditto at the helm, Gossip; they will be visiting the festival after 12 years without being on stage. Also joining them are Yard Act’s ferocious guitars and light-hearted lyrics, the Brooklyn born indie group Nation of Language, and the young and effervescent English Teacher; IFEMA MADRID is going to be filled to the brim with new sounds. Soul will also have its own spot at KALORAMA Madrid thanks to the brilliant Olivia Dean and her velvety debut album Messy, as well as the national talent of the seven musicians who mix tropical pop with everyday life Colectivo Da Silva, TRISTÁN! and his overflowing sensitivity or one of the most interesting proposals on the urban scene, the Maghrebi-born Huda from Madrid.
With a palette that fuses genres of different – and vibrant – colours, with national and international names, KALORAMA Madrid reveals the first names of this first edition’s lineup.
